    The personal attention to detail.

A little too formal for the evening meal

Can't recommend more highly, was like staying in someone's beautiful home. Staff were friendly and welcoming, with a very relaxed attitude. Amazing food in their restaurant. Would return in a heartbeat.

Absolute luxury, great attention to detail. We were upgraded on arrival. Very good standard of breakfast.

We liked best the gourmet dining. The chef made us feel welcomed in his dining room.

The room (211) was pleasant. Very clean. Beautiful view on garden and of the walled city. Only one problem: the taps in bathroom need to be changed since they are very old and discolored, which gives an effect of not being clean (but they were clean...).

We were due to arrive after a long journey in time for dinner. About 5 hours away I realised that we would not make the time. The receptionist volunteered to have a cold meal arranged for our arrival an hour after the kitchens closed. An outstanding meal which set the tone for the stay

  • Older travelers

Outstanding in every respect. Superb service, utterly delicious food, the most comfortable of rooms (even our dog was given a bed and waterbowl) and in the most delightful of locations in the most charming of French towns. Quite simply the most spoiling of treats for the most special of occasions. Not cheap but worth every penny. Charm, quality and very very special.

  • Older travelers
    9.2

Comfort, calm and service, in a beautiful and tranquil setting. It is no adverse reflection on the cuisine to say that breakfast on the terrace is a particular treat. There have been evolutionary changes and improvements to the hotel since a first visit over 30 years ago, but in substance it remains delightfully unchanged.

Like all good things, the experience does not come cheap - but its prices are well advertised.

An extremely pleasant stay with delightful staff, very comfortable and excellent food. Not cheap but nothing took us by surprise. Strongly recommended.

The only thing that caused us to raise an eyebrow were the bedside lights. We enjoy reading in bed but the lights were so dim, (we were told to save energy!!) and the light footprint so limited that reading became something of a challenge and not the relaxation we normally experience. This is emphatically not a complaint but we haven't encountered it before.

  • Older travelers

It was a splendidly luxurious sbhort break.

A tendency to charge extra for everything such as private parking which is unnecessary and 'chef's suggestions' on an already expensive menu.

Did you know Montreuil was the site of the british high command during the first world war. It is full of history and is an fortified town with magnificent views for miles and miles of the surrounding countryside. The Chateau is in the middle of the town.

The room was beautiful and had a lovely view. Aparently the rooms are all individual - no two the same so will deffinately be booking in here again, if only to experience one of their other rooms. Food was all excellent.

The overall experience! Stayed over 24 years ago & still the same as we remember & the same Owners! We will return again, but not to leave it quite so long. A special place to visit. Even given an upgrade.

Nothing comes to mind - at all.

  • Older travelers
    9.2

It is utterly charming, well situated in an interesting and historic part, and the staff and courtesy and design of the rooms are excellent.

    The rain!

  • Older travelers

The meal was excellent but the room was poor

  • Older travelers
    8.2

A very French experience, lovely suite, traditionally decorated. Excellent food, wine and restaurant service

No access to room till 3pm, but as we arrived early we were told that we could get in at 1pm, so waited around 45 mins, then told not ready, be another 30 mins, then told come back at three. We wasted a couple of hours doing this.
